originated in India 5.500 years ago. The word yoga means union and thus means the integration
of the body, the mind, and the soul. Yoga is not a religion, but
could be best described as an art, a philosophy and a way of living
that could easily be integrated into our hectic Western lifestyle.
The micro-purpose of yoga is to strengthen and stretch the body
through physical postures to gain flexibility, while the macro-purpose
of yoga is to attain an overall understanding of ourselves and therefore
gain clarity of mind and through meditation understand our place
in the universe. Practicing the Hatha-Yoga lifestyle improves the
quality of life.
